Pictured above are my February TBR picks from my TBR Bingo challenge.
CHALLENGE ONE:
“Instagram choice”
Book: A Curse So Dark And Lonely | Brigid Kimm
The first challenge I picked out for my February TBR bingo challenge was for Instagram to pick. I chose two books; To Kill a Kingdom and A Curse So Dark and Lonely; and posted them on my Instagram story as a poll for 24 hours. The winner of the vote was A Curse So Dark And Lonely. I am happy with the decision, I would have been happy either way to be fair, but I am looking forward to reading this and seeing what all the hype is about, despite being slightly nervous that I won’t enjoy it like everybody else. I really do hope I like it!
CHALLENGE TWO:
“Read a library book”
Book: Three Dark Crowns | Kendra Blake
I have wanted to start this series for so long, but I have heard really mixed reviews about it so I’ve always been apprehensive. Numerous times I have picked it up in Waterstones and actually put it back. I decided to reserve it at the library and luckily the day I pulled out this challenge I had an email to say that it was waiting for me to pick up!
CHALLENGE THREE:
“Read a full series”
Series: Grishaverse | Leigh Bardugo | (Shadow&Bone, Siege&Storm, Ruin&Rising, Six of Crows, Crooked Kingdom and King of Scars)
I recently bought King of Scars with my Waterstones points based on how beautiful the book was. I already owned the rest of Leigh Bardugo’s books which was a bonus. However, I have never actually read them. When I pulled them out this month I knew this had to be the series that I read. Obviously, I could have chose the trilogy but I clearly like to make things difficult for myself and I’m going to read the whole lot. Wish me luck. I can’t wait to dive into the Grishaverse.
CHALLENGE FOUR:
“Re-read”
Book: Lola Rose | Jacqueline Wilson
I recently had the urge to collect Jacqueline Wilson books again. She was one of my favourite authors throughout my childhood and I can’t wait to read them again. When I pulled this out of the jar I knew exactly what I was going to pick. Lola Rose was my favourite book when I was a child, so it was inevitable that I was going to pick this book as my first choice. I can’t wait to see if I still love it as much as when I was a child.
CHALLENGE FIVE:
“Read a middle grade book”
Book: The House with Chicken Legs | Sophie Anderson
This book is a wild card for me, it intrigued me so much when I saw it and bought it as a spur of the moment thing. However I don’t actually know why it is about, the title and the cover drew me in and made me feel like it would be a fun, light hearted middle grade book. Please tell me I’m not the only one that picks up a book based on its title/cover and doesn’t bother checking the synopsis! Let’s hope I’m right.
THAT’S A WRAP:
So there we have it! My February 2019 TBR Bingo picks. I have a wide variety of books here and a lot of pages to read so I better get a move on. I will post my results at the start of March in the “wrap up” part of this blog. Stay tuned!
