“And so I sat on the loo and pissed in the bag. It was the most disgusting thing I’d ever done and I was so so proud. Once it was nicely ruined, I dropped in my engagement ring, zipped up the bag and left the bathroom.”
*** This is the best quote I have ever read, LOVE IT. Please note, in context it is so much funnier! ***
When you’re running away from a broken heart, there’s only one place to go…Adjusting tiaras at the foot of the aisle, Angela and her best friend prepare for the wedding of the year. But events don’t go as planned. And when a girl is in possession of a crumpled bridesmaid dress – and can’t go home – New York (for the very first time) seems like an excellent idea. Angela’s new friend Jenny Lopez gives Angela a whirlwind tour of the city that never sleeps, and a makeover. Who hasn’t dreamed of starting afresh with a sassy New York wardrobe, a new haircut and a trip to the make-up counter? Before she knows it, the new Angela is getting over her broken heart by having dinner with two different boys. And, best of all, she gets to write about it in her fabulous new blog. But it’s one thing telling readers all about your romantic dilemmas. It’s another trying to figure them out for yourself!
This is so far from anything that I would normally read. I absolutely hate romance and I am very selective with the contemporary books that I read. However I have heard a lot about this series recently and everybody seems to love it. When I saw that it was on Kindle Unlimited I decided to take the plunge and give it a go. I entered this book with really low expectations but actually came out really enjoying it. I am currently eagerly awaiting my copy of the next book to arrive so I can read the next instalment.
I absolutely loved Angela, she was such a brilliant character. She has been through a lot in a short space of time and I do feel for her but at the same time she is amazing. She overcomes what is thrown at her and is so sassy and fantastic that I just could not get enough out of her. The quote above has to be my favourite moment in the book and had me laughing out loud. It is definitely something that I would do.
I found the writing style engaging, it was the type of book that you could easily devour within one sitting, one that you don’t really have to think about. You can just sit back and read. This is really refreshing as my to be read is generally heavy fantasy so something like this to break things up is definitely welcome.
I really like this series so far and I am excited to see what happens next with the main character. Of course I rolled my eyes a lot and some of the themes within the book were obviously going to happen in the most unrealistic way but the parts that I really enjoyed made me forget about them. What more do you want from a romance book?
